Choosing the right size for transportable cabin

Choosing the right size for transportable cabin

Before you invest in a transportable unit you need to make sure you have everything planned. That includes where you are going to put the unit and making sure you have chosen the right size transportable cabin for your requirements.

There several questions to ask before getting a tiny house especially when it comes to size.

Key questions to ask to get the right size transportable cabin

How many people will be staying in it and who are they?
It seems obvious but the more people who will be staying in the cabin the bigger it probably needs to be. You’ll need to make sure you can fit enough bedrooms for everyone. And, if you are living with a family, you’ll want to give people space for alone time as well as family time.

Is it for long-term stays, holiday lets or hobbies?
If you or family members are going to be living in the unit full time you might want more space than if it just for short-term holiday lets. People on holiday will probably be able to manage with less space and you might also need a smaller unit for a she-shed or other hobby room.

Do you need it to be self-contained?
If you are including kitchen and bathroom facilities you’ll need a bigger unit than if you are just using it for a sleepout.

How big is your section?
The size of your section will play a role in what size cabin you can get. You don’t want your unit to dominate your section. There are also regulations covering how close to the edge of your section another dwelling can be.
